Now I Lay Me

Lauren has been doing better at saying her prayers with me lately. If you listen closely, you can hear when she doesn't know the words because she says "Duh, duh, duh" in their place. We taped this in her room with very little light, so it is pretty much black. Also, she loses her fuzz (which she loves to hold while she sucks her thumb) in the middle. So, here is Lauren's assisted version of "Now I Lay Me."

Bubble Wrap

Who didn't love bubble wrap when they were little...or perhaps even now? Brian received some chemicals for the hot tub today and let the kids play with the bubble wrap that was in the box. Here is a sample of the fun they were having with it.

Hello! Remember us?

I realize that it has been a while again since I have posted here. I think so often about putting some pictures up, but I never feel like I have anything significant to say. I have reminded myself that this blog is a place for me to journal my family and our happenings. If that is boring to others, so be it. I need to keep it up. I had the first hundered posts or so printed by Blog2Print in to a hard bound book. I want to do that again...which requires me to keep up here.

So, what are some new things in the Schnick Family's life? It is offically summer. I've been off work since Friday. I have to work two days this week and them I'm off until August 2nd. Brian is spending this week in San Diego for work. I joined the Y this morning...no laughing! I have been thinking about it for a while and have consistently come up with every lame excuse in the book for why I can't. There just aren't enough excuses to keep away the fact that I need to get healthy. I went to Step this morning with Nicole and enjoyed having time for myself. I look forward to focusing on my health this summer. Hayden is taking swimming lessons two days a week until July 11th. Then on July 19th he will start a two-week session that is held 4 days each week. I am hoping he stops talking to the teacher long enough to pay attention and learn something. The nice thing about our YMCA is that the pool Hayden swims in has a corner of it that is a splash pool for the little ones. So, Lauren can play in the pool while Hayden has lessons. I only have to drag her over to Hayden once or twice to tell him to knock off some rowdy behavior. Not bad! We are planning to go to Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells in July with the Norvell's for our summer vacation. I am taking Brian on a surprise overnight the weekend after that. We will have a weekend off and then we go to Columbus, OH for my cousins wedding. It is going to be a busy summer!

You'll have to bear with me with the amount of pictures I have to post. The kids have both had some new experiences these last few weeks...T-ball, hair cuts, playing with friends..

Hayden started t-ball this summer and has really been enjoying it. He is understanding the concept for the most part. His team is the Marlins and he is #3. Here are some action shots...

Ready for the field!

It takes a while to get through the entire batting line up for the other team.

Lauren got her first hair cut on Friday, June 18th. We took her to Locks of Fun in Valpo. where the kids sit in cars and have dvd's playing in front of them instead of mirrors. This won't be the norm, but I wanted the first time to be positive and not scary.
Here is her berfore shot...
She's ready!
She can even make an alligator clip look cute!
This shot sums up how she felt about the hair cutting experience...
The after shot... With the summer upon us, we've been able to spend more time with Les, Nicole, and Leah (Lauren's BFF)

We were watching Leah this week when the nasty storm rolled through. While eating dinner, the power went out and the tornado sirens went off. So, we ended up in the basement and this is what the kids did until the coast was clear.
Leah the fire girl! She's already saved a poor little kitty. I also wanted to give Brian props for our beautiful home! He always does a great job keeping the lawn and landscaping well kept. He should be very proud of it all!
That's all for now. I hope that you are having a wonderful summer so far!

Memorial Day

This year Hayden wanted to honor Brian's dad, PawPaw, and visit his grave site. He chose out a wreath and both kids drew pictures to leave there for him. Hayden hasn't been there before (neither has Lauren, but she didn't really know what was going on) and had been asking questions.

Lauren picked some flowers for PawPaw.

Placing his wreath for PawPaw at the bottom of the grave.

Only our kids...one cheesing hard and the other thinks he is as tough as nails.

PawPaw would have loved this pretty girl...and I bet she would have had him wrapped around her finger!
Checking out how the grave stone and flowers work.
She wanted to touch too!
Their wreath and pictures. Hayden's picture is a flag and a tank. Lauren's is a two year old's scribbles.

He had to give PawPaw a hug before we left. He wanted to know if we thought PawPaw got his hug. Brian assured him that he did.

Leaving her flowers for her grandpa.

Trying on Daddy's hat...Little Trooper Girl!

We're still here!

It has been quite a while since I last posted. We have done a few things since that time. Hayden has continued to play basketball and is enjoying running up and down the court. He has a hard time staying with the person he is supposed to guard, and likes to yell "I'm open." to the opposing team when the have the ball. He's learning though. We went to visit Brian's mom over spring break. We got to visit with his sister, Lisa, and her family too! We are excited that we booked a vacation (with Les, Nicole, and Leah) in July to stay in a cabin at the Wilderness Territory resort at the Wisconsin Dells.

I thought I'd put several pictures up to share our world these days.

Checking out the planes at the airport...heading to FL.

Hanging out with Uncle Brett...thier first time meeting.

Cuddle time with cousin Madison

Playing Wii with cousin Noah
Lauren did a lot of coloring with Aunt Lisa

Family photo op at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, FL
With Grammy & Aunt Lisa...after checking out the cool tigers!
Smile!

After his first official game!

Check out Hayden and his mad skillz!

Trying to open a movie case.

Popcorn and a movie.
Isn't she the sweetest? It's so deceiving!
I could just EAT HER UP!

Showing her own style! She's a girl with an independent spirit!

Have a great week everyone!!!
